This book provides deep insight into the history of Ethiopian women’s struggle against colonialism, monarchy, and undemocratic rules, breaking the barriers of domestic confinement. It show how, despite the fact that women’s constitutional and legal rights of owning property, access to social services and participation are recognized, the patriarchal values of harmful practices, gender-based violence, household work, etc. are still hindrances for their equal political, social and economic participation.
