This book presents an in-depth study of the social and political transformation in Iran after the revolution of 1979. It traces the genesis of the revolution and how Islam as an ideology played dominant role in bringing revolution and shaping the post-revolution Iran.
It describes in detail the removal of monarchy, the emergence of the new political system, namely Velayat-e Fiqih, the Islamisation of politics and society, the important aspects of social, political, educational and economic development. The influence of religion on economy in Iran, leading to the creation of Islamic banks and other institutions, has also been discussed.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shah Alam
Dr. Shah Alam, is presently working as Lecturer in Psychology and Coordinator of P.G. Diploman in Guidance & Counselling, Centre for Distance Education at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He started his career as a research assistant and served various institutions, Punjab Police Academy, National Council of Educational Research and Training etc. He obtained M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree in Psychology from A.M.U. Aligarh. He also did Post Graduate Diploma in Educational and Vocational Guidance from NCERT, New Delhi. Before joining AMU, Aligarh he was working as Student Counsellor in R.I. E (N.C.E.R.T.), Ajmer. He has published more than 16 research papers and articles and attended more than 30 seminars/conferences/workshops. He has completed five major and minor research projects. He is also a research awardee by UGC.
