Dr. C. P. Prakasam is working as a Professor at International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai. He obtained his Master's degree from Sri Venkateswar University, Tirupati, C. P. S. and D. P. S. from International Institute of Population Sciences, and Doctorate degree in Demography from Bombay University.

Dr. S. Sivaraju is working as a Professor at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He obtained Master Degree in Statistics, Master Degree in Population Sciences and Ph. D. in Population Studies from Sri Venkateswar University.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ulimiri V Somayajulu

U.V. Somayajulu is Vice-President and Head of Social Research with TNS India, New Delhi.  Before joining TNS Mode, he was Research Executive, Operations Research Group, Baroda.  He holds M.Sc. in Statistics, M.A. in Sociology, M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Population Studies.  His areas of specialization include population and development, health, nutrition, family planning, reproductive and child health, women and child development, STIs and HIV/AIDS.  He has published several research papers and presented many papers at national and international seminars and conferences.  He has also conducted many research projects and is author of 65 reports of research studies carried out for international agencies such as USAID, UNFPA, UNICEF, DFID, FHI, World Bank, ILO, Action Aid and several departments of the Indian Government as well as state governments.
