ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jaspal Singh

Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh is the Founder-Head of the Department of Sociology and former dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences in Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He is also the Founder-Editor of Guru Nanak Journal of Sociology, as well as the Founder-President of Punjab Sociological Society. He has been engaged in teaching and research in Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Punjab University Chandigarh and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He has been a member of the UGC Panel on Sociology, Advisory committee of the ICSSR Regional Centre, as well as Senate and Syndicate of GNDU. He has been a member of the boards of studies of several universities. Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh has intensively interacted with empirical sociologists from all parts of the world.
