ABOUT THE AUTHOR Saroj K Pal

Dr. Saroj K. Pal, a Professor in Physical Geography at University of Delhi, has been acclaimed as a leading specialist on physical and mathematical aspects of Geography in India as well as at abroad. A Direct disciple of Prof. S.P. chatterjee of Calcutta University, Prof. Pal who has been a recipient of Senior Fulbright Fellow, is a widely travelled person both in India and aborad. As a keen analyst of geographical events, Prof. Pal does not accept Geography to be a generalist, holistic subject for pedagogic treatment but tries to see it as a very positivist subject for reinventing it into a front-line discipline. in this respect he feels the need for single, authoritative volumes on important issues of Geography and that may be the reason that Prof. Pal who is having a book on Physical Geography of India from the point of view of regional earth science approach, has felt the need for writing the present book as the natural nemesis of his belief.
