Child labour is prohibited in all countries. But deplorably it has been continuously flourishing in developing countries particularly in India. As a member of the persistent poverty existing both in rural and urban India, child labour has been considered as a harass reality.  The present study is the outcome of the research carried out by the author at the macro-level based on secondary sources of data collected through books, journals and micro-level through survey and questionnaire method. It is hoped that the work will be highly appreciated by policy makers, to the planners, anthropologists, sociologists, administrators, researchers, social scientists and others who are keenly interested to ameliorate the problems of child labour.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.N. Tripathy

S.N. Tripathy is one of the products of the intensive research effort which brought in the Green Revolution. with a Master's degree in Agronomy and a doctorate in Biotechnology, he has been actively associated with research institutes in the area of rice and wheat research. He has also served with the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) as senior scientist.
