The Mammals of Arunachal Pradesh is the first such publication which has documented the rich and diverse mammalian fauna of this ‘biodiversity hotspot’ state. All the species known and possibly occur in the state have been listed in a systematic order supported by some excellent maps & illustrations. Brief write-ups on each species have been given especially on their taxonomic reference, distribution and conservation status. The text is followed by a comprehensive bibliography.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anwaruddin Choudhury
Dr. Anwaruddin Choudhury (44), had published more than 350 articles & scientific papers, and nine books and monographs on wildlife issues, especially pertaining to north-east India. Some notable books are The Birds of Assam, The Checklist of the Mammals of Assam and Naturalist in Karbi Anglong. He has traveled widely across the north-east surveying wildlife. M.A. in Geography and Ph.D. on Primatology, Dr. Choudhury is Member of Assam Civil Service and currently Joint Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Environment & Forest Department. His other interests are photography, drawing (exhibited in the State Art Gallery, published widely, cartography, exploration etc. He is Member of Several IUCN/SSC Specialist Groups including Asian Elephant, Asian Rhino, Cat, Small Carnivores [Mustelid, Viverrid & Orocyonid] and IUCN/SSC/BLI Pheasant and Threatened Waterfowl Specialist Groups. Also the founder Chief Executive of The Rhino Foundation for nature in NE India, a leading NGO of the country (member of the Indian Wildlife Board).
