ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anwaruddin Choudhury

Dr. Anwaruddin Choudhury (44), had published more than 350 articles & scientific papers, and nine books and monographs on wildlife issues, especially pertaining to north-east India. Some notable books are The Birds of Assam, The Checklist of the Mammals of Assam and Naturalist in Karbi Anglong. He has traveled widely across the north-east surveying wildlife. M.A. in Geography and Ph.D. on Primatology, Dr. Choudhury is Member of Assam Civil Service and currently Joint Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Environment & Forest Department. His other interests are photography, drawing (exhibited in the State Art Gallery, published widely, cartography, exploration etc. He is Member of Several IUCN/SSC Specialist Groups including Asian Elephant, Asian Rhino, Cat, Small Carnivores [Mustelid, Viverrid & Orocyonid] and IUCN/SSC/BLI Pheasant and Threatened Waterfowl Specialist Groups. Also the founder Chief Executive of The Rhino Foundation for nature in NE India, a leading NGO of the country (member of the Indian Wildlife Board).
