ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jalalu-din Rumi

Jalalu ‘d-din Rumi, was born in Balkh (Khorassam) in 1207 and died in 1273 at Konia in Asiatic Turkey. His great work, the Masnavi was 43 years in writing. During the past seven hundred years, this book, called by Iranians “The Koran in Persian”, a tribute paid to no other book, has occupied a central place in Sufism, Rumi’s name is associated with the founding of the order known in Durope as the “Dancing Dervishes” and in the East as “The Path of the Master.”
