Tourism and Environment

‘Tourism and Environment’ are complementary to each other. Environment is total surroundings of a locality-landscape, climate, fauna, flora, other natural resources. A good environment always attract large number of tourists of all sorts (e.g. adventure, picturesque natural piety, study, holidaying, health etc.). It is experienced that over-exploitation of environment for tourism purposes, i.e. great influx of tourists to a particular environ has caused damage to ecological balances and depletion of natural resources. To cite the example of Mount Everest, excessive mountaineering activities have caused serious problems of environmental pollution. As such an eco-friendly approach must be adopted for tourism activities, which may be sustainable. This book addresses many pertinent issues of tourism and its impact on environment.
