The Present work, base on ‘Use and potential of Folk Media in Development Communication: A study of select Folk Formats’, is the result of his vast and rigorous field work. As Dr. Daya Kishan Thussu of the Department of Media and Communication, Goldsmiths University of London opinioned “I found the work very well structured and makes a convincing case for the role of folk media in development communication”. He explored extensively the socio-economic conditions of the folk artists. He catalogued the various art forms already in use, which have the potential for use in spreading of development communication. Dr. Baldev Raj Gupta, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, wrote, “This research will help the Education and Culture departments to include folk media in the school curricula, to formulate alternative communication policies to use folk arts for communication purposes and its use in further development. Some of the facts has been discovered which will further help the government agencies in proper utilization of folk media for local, regional and national development.”
