ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.V. Venkatarama Reddy

B.V. Venkatarama Reddy Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Currently working as Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science. Structural masonry, energy efficient alternative building materials and technologies, rammed-earth structures and recycling of solid wastes for building materials represent the broad areas of research interest. Has 66 publications, guided doctoral research programmes and consultant to several projects on alternative building technologies. Member of the technical committees of Bureau of Indian Standards. Recipient of Prof. Satish Dhawan award for young Engineers instituted by the Government of Karnataka.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR K.S. Nanjunda Rao

K.S. Nanjunda Rao currently working as Principal Research Scientist in the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Obtained Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in 1995. He is active in teaching, research and consultancy. His research interests include mechanics of composite plates and shells, finite element structural analysis, structural masonry, reinforced and prestressed concrete, earthquake resistant design of structures and alternative building materials.
