Postcolonialism, a historio-political phenomenon born in the matrix of literary studies, is a highly problematic term and yet a major force in the academia even today. Decentring the Eurocentric subject it has released new energies and created new paradigms in the contemporary literature and Theory. The present anthology, a fine and judicious mix of the old and established scholars and the new and upcoming ones, endeavors to reify them, not as a prisoner of theory but as an enlightened critic, in the works of some representative writers mostly fictionists belonging to the third world. That the present volume is a happy blend of sound critical wisdom and fresh revelatory insights can be realized only when one has gone through it from cover to cover.
