The emergence of World Trade Organisation (WTO) has changed the world economic order. Economies of the world are opening up and integrating with each other. India too has shelved the earlier protectionist policy and opened up the economy to the world market. Globalisation refers to widening and deepening of international flow of trade, capital, labour, technology, information and services. It involves liberalization of national and global markets in the belief that it will result in higher growth rate and human welfare. Globalisation is not an end point, but a beginning for an enlarged process. It warrants liberalization and privatization of native economies. India too has adopted the path of liberalization and consequently both positive and negative impacts of globalisation on the economy have been felt. It has been persistently a debatable issue over the losses and gains of globalisation on India economy. The last decade of the 20th century witnessed the emergence of an all-pervasive global information infrastructure, commonly referred to as the Internet or the World Wide Web. This new medium of information and communication has revolutionized the work culture and living styles of human beings. Business environment in India is changing fact, bringing new opportunities as well as posing challenges. Economic liberalization and globalisation have created keen interest in foreign investors resulting in comfortable foreign currency reserves, stability of Indian Rupee, vibrant stock market and expanding financial and services sector. ABOUT THE AUTHOR K.N.S. Kang
Dr. K.N.S. Kang, an academician, an entrepreneur and an achiever is basically an electrical engineer, with Post-graduation in business management and doctorate in marketing management. A unique mix of an intellecutal, a sportsman and artist, dr. Kang has always achieved merit and distinction in education, sports and cultural holder in state higher secondary examination, national level athlete and a winner in inter-university prestitious Shaheed Bagat Singh State Youth Award for overall excellence by the then Governor of Punjab. honourable Mr. S.S. Ray. Dr. Kang worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Management, PAU, Ludhian and has fourteen years of professional experiance to his credit. He had been the adivsor to all India Management Association Nodal Centre for imparting post-graduate level management educatiion in Ludhiana for four years. His fields of expertise include marketing management, international business and advertisement management. Pavitar Parkash Singh is working as Assistant Professor in Punjab College of Technical Education, Ludhiana. He obtained his M.Sc. from Punjabi University, Patiala and Masters in Business Administration from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He graduated in Education also from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He has great interest in science education, environment management and computer application. He has six years of working experience. Presently he is pursuing his Ph.D. He has authored and presented many research papers in national and international seminars and is providing consultancy to various industrial houses on the different projects.
