The present book Population and Reproductive Health : Perspectives and Issues is a compilation of some selected papers presented at the XXXI Annual Conference of the Indian Association for the Study of Population (IASP) organized at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tirupati during Nov. 3-5, 2009. There are 27 articles included in the book covering wide areas of Population and Reproductive Health. The papers are arranged in 4 sections, namely, population dynamics, reproductive health determinants and care, methodological issues and miscellaneous. The book will promote exchange of ideas and throw light on various dimensions of population dynamics and develop new methodologies for handling the complex nexus of population and reproductive health and also address issues relating issues relating to large scale sample surveys in this area.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Arvind Pandey
Dr. Arvind pandey is Reader, Department of Mathematical Demography and Statistics, International Institute for Population Sciences, Bombay. He has been teaching Mathematical Demography, Techniques of Fertility Analysis, Population Projection, Evaluation of Family Planning Programmes and Biostatistics over a decade. His area of interest covers modelling biosocial processes in general and human reproduction process in particular. He has written more than 50 papers which are published innational and International journals. Dr. Pandey is recipient of several awards, e.g., Young Scientist Award of the Indian Science Congress Association, Malaviya Memorial Foundation Award of Banaras Hindu University for his outstanding research in the area of Birth Interval Analysis.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR K K Singh
K.K. Singh did his B.Sc (Ag.) Hons, M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science in first division from Agra University, Agra and M.Phil and Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry from AMU, Aligarh. He availed UGC-JRF during his M.Phil, and Ph.D. studies. He qualified GATE-91 examination with an overall percentile score of 91.55. He qualified at a National Eligibility Test in Soil Sci.-Soil Chem. Fert. And Microb. In 1995 and NET-1997 in Soil Sci.-Soil Physics/Soil and Water Conservation organized by Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board, New Delhi. He joined the Department of Agriculture, Got. Of Rajasthan in 1993 as Asst. Agril. Research Officer (Chem.) in a Gazetted position and presently working at Project Directorate (Research), Agriculture and Soil Survey, Krishi Bhavan, Bikaner. He has also served as Asst. Professor (Soil and Water Conservation) for a short stint at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (RARS, Leh), Srinagar. He has 30 research papers, 45 articles, 20 chapters and 6 books published to his credit. He is also a recipient of ARIC 'Crop Research Award-1997' for his significant contribution for promoting literature in the field of agriculture, 20th Century 'Young Agricultural Scientist National Award', and 'Best Paper Award'. He has attended a number of national/international seminars/conferences/workshops and presented papers. He was a member of Editorial Board of J. Crop Research from 2001 to 2003. He is a Life Member of Indian Science Congress Association. He is also an expert of agricultural programmes broadcast from AIR, Bikaner.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ulimiri V Somayajulu
U.V. Somayajulu is Vice-President and Head of Social Research with TNS India, New Delhi. Before joining TNS Mode, he was Research Executive, Operations Research Group, Baroda. He holds M.Sc. in Statistics, M.A. in Sociology, M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Population Studies. His areas of specialization include population and development, health, nutrition, family planning, reproductive and child health, women and child development, STIs and HIV/AIDS. He has published several research papers and presented many papers at national and international seminars and conferences. He has also conducted many research projects and is author of 65 reports of research studies carried out for international agencies such as USAID, UNFPA, UNICEF, DFID, FHI, World Bank, ILO, Action Aid and several departments of the Indian Government as well as state governments.
